Your first Sunday at Sindoor Valley
What to wear, what to bring, what you will actually do, and why you will come back.

We are on the hillside every Sunday from 7:30 to 10:30 in the morning. Here is what to expect.
Getting there
The Butterfly Sanctuary is at Sindoor Valley, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hills, Sector 35, on the Hyde Park service road in Kharghar. Look for the sanctuary board at the gate.
What to bring
Water, a hat and a friend. Wear shoes you do not mind getting red; the soil here is laterite.
What you will do
It depends on the season. In the monsoon we plant: digging pits, adding red soil and manure, setting a support stake. In the dry months we water, trim and weed. Some Sundays are for the nursery, cleaning and sowing neem seed.
Before you leave
Every visitor goes home with a tulsi sapling.
If you are bringing a group of 20 or more from a society, school or office, book a date so we have saplings and tools ready.
